Message from Paula Fletcher:
Notice of Development – Queen and Laing
A development application has been submitted to City Planning by the Rockport Group for an 8-storey condo at the southeast corner of Queen & Laing (1327-1339 Queen St. East) and the developer is holding community consultations on Monday March 24 to go over their proposal.

This development is right on the other side of the boundary between Ward 30 and Ward 32 which is represented by Councillor Mary-Margaret McMahon. As residents in the immediate area, I think it is important that you are a part of the community consultations.

What: 1327-1339 Queen St. East Development Meeting
When: Monday, March 24 7:00-9:00pm

Currently, I do not favour an 8-storey development on Queen, but I want to wait to hear from you before I make my final decision.

Queen St. East is under strong development pressure, which is why I asked staff to initiate a planning study on Queen St. East from Booth to Leslie to establish community-driven design guidelines to shape development. The recommendations will come forward in May and are going to be firmly established with an Official Plan Amendment so they are defensible at the OMB.

Heights have not yet been restricted on this stretch of Queen, so it is important to hear from you. I hope to see you there.

Sincerely,

Councillor Paula Fletcher
