A sneak peek inside the Real Jerk’s new building
WATCH: Global News gets an exclusive, sneak peek at the restaurant’s new building. Mark McAllister reports.
Over a year after being evicted from its home at the corner of Queen Street and Broadview Avenue, the Real Jerk is set to open in a new location.
“We have to keep positive and keep looking,” Ed Pottinger, the owner of the Real Jerk said. “We saw several places and we finally found our home.”
Pottinger found an empty space near the intersection of Gerrard Street and Carlaw Avenue to open up his new restaurant.
The Real Jerk was evicted from their former building in December, 2011 after the building’s owner leased the space to a different business.
The restaurant’s new community between Riverside, Leslieville and Riverdale is on the rise.
“We’re The Jerk. We made Queen and Broadview work and that area was probably worse than this one when we first went in,” Pottinger said. “We’re going to make this rock.”
